Nevada Appeal: Carson High football players win two big 4A awards

Carson High School football had a plethora of players earn all-region honors for their play this season.
The Class 4A North head football coaches select the all-region teams.
Leading the way for the Senators was Daniel Rivera, honored as Offensive Lineman of the Year.
First-year head coach Steven Nelms also earned a postseason honor, being named the 4A North Coach of the Year.
FIRST-TEAM SELECTIONS
Carson football had a number of first-team all-region selections on both offense and defense.
Beginning on offense, Johnathan Alvarado led the way with a first-team all-region selection at running back.
Alvarado finished his senior season with 1,222 rushing yards and nine touchdowns after earning an honorable mention all-region nod last season.
Joining Alvarado on the first team was fellow senior Zack Eaton.
Eaton, a wide receiver, led the Senators with 489 receiving yards this fall and seven touchdowns.
It marks Eaton’s second all-region selection; he earned second-team honors last season.
Elijah Larry was a first-team all-region selection at punter for the Senators, too.
Defensively, Nicholas Heald earned all-region first-team honors on the defensive line.
Heald finished this season with 28 tackles, two tackles for loss and a pair of forced fumbles.
Linebacker Nicholas Alvarado joined Heald as a first-team all-region choice.
Alvarado, a junior, finished with a team-high 85 tackles and eight tackles for loss. He also recorded a pair of sacks, one interception and a forced fumble.
At defensive back, Carson’s Matthew Manley picked up first-team honors.
The junior was second on the team in tackles with 78 while also recording an interception and a forced fumble.
SECOND TEAM AND HONORABLE MENTION
For the second team all-region squad, the Senators had Joseph Madera and Canyon Frantz earn spots.
At kicker, Cesar Pacheco grabbed a second-team all-region nod, as well.
Defensively, Ean Thomas was a second-team all-region selection at linebacker.
Thomas, a senior, had 65 tackles and four fumble recoveries.
At defensive back, Cruz Gonzales was a second-team selection as a junior. Gonzales led the Senators with four interceptions.
For honorable mention, quarterback Tyler Silsby was joined by Justin Gonzalez at running back.
At wide receiver, Riley Loff picked up an honorable mention nod. while Ethan Linehan was honorable mention at tight end.
Joseph Martinez and Johnny Avina earned honorable mention spots on the offensive line.
Brayden Welch was an honorable mention at the athlete spot to round out Carson’s offensive selections.
On defense, Rudy Sheeketski was awarded honorable mention for his play on the defensive line.
Ezekiel Keechler also grabbed an honorable mention spot at defensive back, while Shane Robinson was an honorable mention at specialist.
